Machinations I
Work for Mixed Quartet

Score and Parts - $30
Machinations I is the first in a series of pieces under the title Machinations and was commissioned by Some Assembly Required for the Modern American concert series in 2017. The piece focuses on several small ideas of a broad but focused nature: ascending triads, descending triads, chorales, and a chromatically ascending piano figure. Throughout the form, these tiny but potent motifs develop into large extended passages and form sections of a loose sonata form, straying into a spiral of other ideas from one of the original four concepts in an enormous machine.
This work will be featured on an upcoming album release by the commissioning ensemble.
